The mission of Growing Tree Childcare and Preschool is to provide high caliber child care value, offer outstanding quality, offer competitive prices, and tailor the needs of each individual family.

About Us

At Growing Tree Childcare and Preschool, our mission is to deliver exceptional child care services that prioritize quality, affordability, and personalized attention for each family. We are committed to achieving this goal by actively listening to and addressing the needs of parents, going above and beyond to ensure their satisfaction with our services.

Established in 2000, Growing Tree Childcare and Preschool is led by Maggie Poon, our Director and Licensee. Maggie, a graduate with a major in Child & Adolescent Development, brings extensive experience in early childhood education. Before entering the childcare field, she taught at Garfield Elementary School in San Francisco's North Beach district, focusing on the Bilingual Program. Maggie is also a certified Chinese-English translator and served for 7 years on the Translation Curriculum Development Committee with the SFUSD. In this role, she translated subjects for grade level kindergarten through fifth grade. Recognizing the importance of early childhood development, Maggie established our family childcare business to provide guidance to infants, toddlers, and preschoolers during their formative years. Maggie feels confident her knowledge and experience will greatly assist with achieving our common goal for the success of your child(ren)

In addition, Maggie has a strong musical background including areas of expertise in piano, acoustic guitar, singing, and dance, which all contributes to the curriculum she has established.

Staff Qualifications

Growing Tree Childcare and Preschool is also fortunate to have and maintain a quality teaching staff within its preparation program. Our staff has degrees in child development, psychology, education and music.

All of our staff members meet and exceed the California requirements for early childhood educators and have completed at least the 12 core credit hours. Our staff's required testing and training includes the following: Live Scan, Criminal Background Check, Pass physical exam, Current CPR and first aid training, Teacher Credential in early child development for teacher or at least 6 units in early child development for teacher assistant.

We seek teachers who have competent training, professionalism, and expertise in the field of early childhood education and who have a natural love for children. They must also be motivated to continue learning and growing. We acknowledge that the strength of our program is in the commitment and dedication of our teaching staff.

Growing Tree Childcare and Preschool occasionally has in the program, in limited roles and on a temporary basis, students from colleges or universities who are in their advanced work on early childhood education.

Staff Training and Development

Growing Tree Childcare and Preschool holds comprehensive professional development and training on a regular basis. We also help individual teachers in their professional growth and fulfillment in line with the Early Childhood Education Permits and Certification for Teaching.

You could witness through observation how our program operates, understand that we are working together to achieve a common goal for your child, recognize the abundance of space available to segregate children into different age levels while receiving the necessary attention from provider, teachers and assistants, and determine first hand that the environment is clean, safe and healthy.
